The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) 2014-2020 granted Manresa, in 2017, a grant of 825,538.78 euros for the protection, promotion and development of cultural heritage within the framework of the Manresa 2022 project:  the arrival of the Ignatian way.

The project, which is to run until 2020, has a budget of more than 2 million euros, of which 1.6 million are subsidised. These will be financed in equal parts between the Government and the City Council of Manresa, which will invest 825,539 euros each.
The proposal focuses on promoting the Manresa 2022 tourism project, both in the improvement of the historical and cultural heritage, related to the Ignatian Manresa, and in the improvement of the tourist services of promotion, commercialization, reception and tourist information.

The project includes actions in the Regional Museum, in Carrer del Balç, in Via de Sant Ignasi, in the Manresa's section of the Ignatian Way and the construction of an elevator between Plaça Major and Carrer de Santa Llúcia street to improve accessibility. The project also includes a Communication Plan.

This initiative is part of the  European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) 2014-2020 summon chapters 4 and 6, presented by the Catalan Government the previous year.

The ERDF fund is the European Union's main instrument for mitigating the effects of disparity between regions. The operational program of the ERDF Catalonia 2014-2020 aims to promote smart, sustainable and inclusive growth of the territory, following the guidelines of the Europe 2020 strategy and its application in Catalonia.
