The board program and management of basic elements of competitiveness

Seventeen actions focused on adaptation and internal improvement.

Starting with  Fundació Turisme i Fires de Manresa organigram dimensioned with the human resources required to implement the development, promotion, communication and marketing of our city. Specifically, reinforced with the creation of a position of commercial manager.

Besides, the creation of a coordination and cooperation system (workshop, platform or work table) where the agents involved in the Manresa's tourism sector participate. This system serves to provide agents with all the information related to the strategy followed by the municipality in terms of product, promotion, communication and marketing.  Thus, companies involved with tourism may have the necessary information to contribute to the development of the destination in line with the rest of the agents. This coordination and cooperation system also serves to enable companies in the sector to share their initiatives, interests and needs. This collaboration and cooperation facilitates the implementation of different private initiatives and satisfies the interests and needs of the sector as a whole.

We collaborate with the Tourism Services Management of the Barcelona Provincial Council to promote the training courses included in the Tourism Workshops in  Manresa.  In short, the competitiveness of the destination and the level of satisfaction of visitors are addressed towards improvement.

Within the framework of the Tourist Information Program at the county level, led by the Technical Office of Tourism of the Diputació de Barcelona and deployed by the County Council of Bages, the PIT (Tourist Information Program) started at the municipal level. This program allows that, in addition to the tourist offices, all the economic and tourist agents of Manresa have knowledge of the tourist offer and the tourist experiences to be able to advise, inform and accompany the visitors correctly in his stay in the city and hereabouts. Interested agents can participate in a training program in which they acquire the knowledge, tools and resources needed to improve their skills in this regard. At the same time, networking and cooperation at all levels are encouraged, which facilitates the creation of new tourist experiences in the municipality.

News: The Tourism Welcome Program concluded 2019 with about twenty participants.

Periodic reports are prepared that allow the organisation to know the influx, the profile and the travel habits of visitors to Manresa and the degree of knowledge of the tourist attractions of the municipality.

News: 20% of the visitors attended by the Manresa Tourist Office in the first days of August 2019 are French.

The Marketing plan identified the need for new and updated graphic material and the expansion of it.

It was also proposed the creation of a brand manual, and the relationship with other brands already known in the territory: Manresa 2022, Manresa capital of Catalan culture 2018, Camí Oliba, Anella Verda, GeoParc, Pla de Bages, Bages Terra de Vins, Ignatian Way, Paisatges Barcelona, Bages, Camins del Bages and Cities and Towns with character.

Publications and material provided with promotional information were also re-examined and updated ans shared.

Fundació Turisme i Fires de Manresa (Manresa's Tourism and Fairs Foundation)  manage the different tourist resources of the municipality, to promote schedule compatibility,  the visit of the different points and guarantee the continuous training of the tourist guides and informants of each centre. 

At the same time,  the organisation promoted the arrangement of thematic events in Manresa of each type of tourism in the municipality such as cultural, spiritual, religious, oenological, gastronomic, nature and sports.

In recent years, a significant effort has been made in the tourist signage of Manresa, which is already well established in the entire historic centre of the city. Based on the opinions of the tourism sector of Manresa, it was recommended to review the signage projects that were underway in case of any possible improvement or incorporation of new companies and services in the signage.

The creation of a  “Manresa Card” to encourage the visit to all our facilities and heritage, which makes cheaper visiting the different tourist points.

News: A new combined entrance ticket to La Seu and Balç Street is launched.

Aiming to expand Manresa’s tourist offer, an incentive was needed to increase the volume of companies dedicated to the tourism sector. It is necessary to support the companies of the tourist sector in the development of new products, trying to offer the maximum resources in order to facilitate the launching of new products.  Therefore incorporate in the territorial planning of the municipality the criteria that can influence the attraction of new investors of tourist infrastructures. The expansion of Manresa’s tourist offer also includes the conversion of the local auberge into a reference for accommodation, mainly aimed at groups of young people, athletes and families.

It is necessary to contribute to the accessibility of the different tourist points, considering that even though many points of interest are in the centre of the municipality. Still, others are isolated from it and so requires more effort to get there.
