Espurnes Barroques (Baroque Sparks)

Espurnes Barroques (Barroque Sparks) presents its 3rd edition with/under the motto “Contacts that heal.”

It begins on September 13th with a concert in Manresa as a homage to the health care workers and Covid-19 victims. From the 13th to September 27th 2020, Espurnes Barroques will host nine shows, two conferences, one round-table discussion, one walk and diverse social and educative activities in schools and nursing homes.

The objective is to reactivate the country's cultural industry and facilitate safe contact between the artists and the public. This desire to promote safe contacts with all security is meant in the motto of this edition: Contacts that heal.

More than ever, the festival is committed to the local producers and artists. Despite the difficulties of the circumstances, the show goes on incorporating new references to the consolidated portfolio of collaborators. Besides, on September 19th, the festivals biscuit will be presented, made with old spices, honey and flour by Iu Camps (Forn de pa Camps de Solsona) in collaboration with Jaume Biarnés.

Culture is safe, and Espurnes Barroques will be a showcase of it.

The events will be held in strict accordance with the health recommendations of competent organisations. What's more, the inaugural concert will be held in collaboration with the ICS, the Althaia Foundation, Sant Andreu Salut and the FUB.

 * Conference in Catalan, translation not available due to COVID-19 situation.

From the fire to the sparks

In July 1998, a massive fire devastated about 30,000 ha of forest and cultivation in the Solsonès, Bages, Anoia and Segarra counties. These counties are part of the so-called baroque territory.

Inspirited on the sparks of that fire that burned the forest, and the shining glow of the baroque art,  Espurnes Barroques (Baroque sparks) presents a festival of Music and Experiences in the Baroque Territory.
Throughout four weekends, between May and June, several first-rate Baroque sites host Baroque music concerts. These experiences well complemented with visits, gastronomy, workshops and all kinds of other activities designed specifically.

Manresa, also a reference for the Baroque, has been part of this festival since its second edition in 2019.
