09/12/2021

The Spiritual Reading Club will start reading "Toward a True Kinship of Faiths: How the World’s Religions Can Come Together” by the current Dalai Lama on 21st December.

“Manresa 2022 Transforma” has been collaborating with the Spiritual Reading Club, one of the many reading clubs offered by the Manresa Casino Library, since 2019. This is a space where people can meet to read and exchange opinions with other readers, combining the pleasure of reading and interacting with other people.

The Spiritual Reading Club is coordinated by the Dr in Theology Adelaide Baracco Colombo , who offers guidelines on how to start reading each book with greater confidence. The purpose of the club is to become a space for reading, reflecting on and debating the subjects of spirituality and theology - two areas of particular importance with regards to the great questions about humankind - helping to promote personal growth, well-being and social cohesion.

The present Dalai Lama - Tenzin Gyato

Tenzin Gyato was born in Takster - north-eastern Tibet - in 1935. He was recognised as the reincarnation of the 13th Dalai Lama when he was five years old. As the temporary spiritual leader of the Tibetan people, he was forced into exile after the Chinese occupation and since 1960 has presided the democratic Tibetan government in exile from (Dharamsala, India). He has received awards such as the Wallenberg Award, the Albert Schweitzer Award and the Nobel Peace Prize.

"Toward a True Kinship of Faiths: How the World’s Religions Can Come Together”

For the Dalai Lama, the most critical challenge we face in the 21st century is cultivating peaceful coexistence.

He aims to contribute to interreligious dialogue and peace, fostering understanding between different religions, emphasising the contributions each makes to human spirituality to avoid the problem of religious exclusivism.
