#LAREFESTA, the celebration of the Ignatian Way
In September 1622, Manresa held a remarkably splendid festival in which the religious celebrations, civil acts and the feast in honour of Saint Ignatius stood out for their size and participation. This festival was "famous, magnificent and grandiose, leaving the cost of them to [opened bank] for those who offered them". This tremendous Baroque festival, which took place in what is now the city's historic centre, speaks of the importance of the canonisation of Saint Ignatius for Manresa, as it meant the promotion of the city through the figure of the Jesuit.
#LAREFESTA of the Ignatian Way 2022 recovers the spirit of this grand celebration. In combining stages and itinerancy, from 7 pm until the early hours of the morning, filling the Historical Centre and the area around the Pont Vell, with music, popular and traditional culture, fireworks and light, but adapting it to the 21st century and ending with a festive summer concert.
#LAREFESTA will include a parade, Dances, Castells [Human towers] and a fire of Saint Ignatius in several places of the Historical Centre, the show "Transformations" by the dance groups of Manresa in the Plaza Mayor, the Circus of the "Man in a sack" and a light show, mapping and pyrotechnics "Way of Light and Fire" in the Pont Vell and the final festive concert with the groups Roba Estesa and Strombers.
