Saint Ignatius Festivities

The Saint Ignatius Festivities date back to 1622, the year of the pilgrim's canonisation and the centenary of his stay in Manresa. The aim of these festivities is to keep the pilgrim’s memory alive. They are held in the city’s historic centre - a joyous space of coexistence and harmony - in the form of concerts, discussions, guided tours, fairs, cultural activities and popular celebrations.

In September 1622, festivities celebrating the canonisation of Saint Ignatius were held in Manresa. This was a particularly joyous occasion in which religious celebrations, civil ceremonies and feasts in honour of Saint Ignatius were well attended by local residents. The 2022 Saint Ignatius Festivities will recover the spirit of this great and solemn event with an inclusive celebration, bringing together the wider community and many of the city’s popular culture organisations.
